This piece is inspired by the allure and mystery of outer space. “Nova” (translating to “new star”) applies the luminous, enchanting, and almost otherworldly qualities of space to one of the planet’s most elemental life forms: fungi. Mushrooms have always been a symbol of life, creativity, and regeneration in my work. With the creation of “Nova”, I seek to play upon the similarities between these two fantastical fields of exploration, which unite in the incredible power and possibility of science.
