While creating this painting, I took a lot of inspiration from the book “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll which is a story about a young girl who ventures into a strange fantasy world powered by her own imagination. Every time I reread this beautiful fairytale, I’m reminded of the vast wonders of the world around me. The story’s strange magic washes over my imagination and, suddenly, I am able to appreciate the world in a whole new light.
Mushrooms have always been a symbol of life, creativity, and regeneration in my work. With the creation of “Alice”, I seek to highlight the role that these beautiful fungi play in fairytales and childhood fantasies.
